NIT Silchar is an autonomous university established as a joint venture between Govt of India and State Govt of Assam. The institute ranks at 49 in the Engineering list of NIRF 2021. NIT Silchar is the first institute to have a C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) in the northeast region of India. The institute currently has 105 ongoing sponsored research projects funded by top agencies such as AICTE, ISIF Asia, SPARC, ASEAN, and many more.
The institute offers degree programs in Engineering, Basic Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management. The major programs at NIT Silchar include BTech and MTech. Selection to the NIT Silchar BTech program is done via JEE Main rank. The institute accepts GATE exam rank for MTech admissions. For the BTech admissions 2022, JEE Main dates have been announced. The application process for the examination in ongoing. Candidates can fill the JEE Main 2022 application forms till March 31. The examination is scheduled in two sessions this year, i.e, April and May. JEE Main 2022 exam for the first session will be held from April 16-21. The second session examinations will be held from May 24-29. On the other hand, GATE 2022 examination concluded on February 13. Results for the exam is expected to be released on March 17, 2022.
NIT Silchar is also topping the charts of both national and international rankings. It has been ranked 2nd best technological institute in the east zone by Dataquest Top T-Schools and NIRF.
